ANCLOTE REACHES FFA PLAYOFFS; WILL FACE PATRIOTS IN WILD-CARD ROUND

by Andy Villamarzo

DUNEDIN- The Anclote Pirates qualified for the Florida Football Alliance's 2017 postseason and will face the Tampa Bay Patriots in the opening round. The Pirates lost the two regular season meetings by scores of 32-3 and 50-0, respectively.

With the playoff berth, it marks the Pirates return to the postseason for the first time since 2013 in the United Football Federation of America. The Pirates went 6-4 in 2013 and faced the Sarasota Millionaires in the Wild-Card Round and fell in an exciting 42-34 contest.

Anclote has a record of 1-2 in the postseason, with its lone victory coming in the Divisional Round of the UFFOA playoffs in 2012 over the Pasco County Hitmen. The Pirates won 40-21 and went on to fall just short of the United Cup II championship game.

The Pirates will face the Patriots on April 22nd at the Tampa PAL Center 1924 W Diana St Tampa, FL 33604. Time of the contest is currently TBA.
