Dunedin crush Polk County 45-16

HAINES CITY- There was much talk heading into last Saturday’s preseason matchup between the Dunedin Pirates and Polk County Rise (members of the Florida Champion Football League).

In the end, it would be the Pirates getting the leg up on the Rise to start preseason play as Dunedin rolled to a 45-16 behind three touchdowns from receiver Manny Higgins.

The scoring output explosion would start off on the Pirates’ first drive as quarterback Tim Dallaire connected with Higgins on a long touchdown pass. The Rise would answer with a score of their own, but the ensuing kickoff return would end up being a touchdown as Higgins returned it putting Dunedin up 13-8.

Touchdowns came at a premium for Dunedin, as they got scores from running back Nate Munson (2 touchdowns), running back Tremaine Batten and backup quarterback Eric Vitale connected with wide receiver Alex Jennings on a score late in the game.

Dunedin’s next preseason game is on January 9th, 2021 at the Paradise Sports Complex in Naples, FL versus the Florida Stingrays. Kickoff is slated for 6 p.m. Eastern Time.
