ST. PETERSBURG- Dunedin entered Saturday’s matchup against the Southwest Florida Gladiators with an 0-7 all-time record and the game itself was another indication of how far apart the programs are on the field.

Southwest Florida dominated via the air and the ground game, as they rolled up over 500 yards of offense in a dominating 54-6 victory over Dunedin. Bad news for the Pirates: They’ll face the same opponent this Saturday.

It proved to be a very tough day for starting quarterback Tim Dallaire, who went 10-of-29, 88 yards and threw three interceptions. The bright spot offensively was running back/quarterback Eric Vitale, who threw for 41 yards, touchdown and added another 43 on the ground.

An injury forced Vitale out of the game due to a wrist fracture. Down 34-6 at halftime, Dunedin (1-2) kept pushing until the bitter end despite the large lead held by SWFL (3-0). Dunedin will play at SWFL Gladiators’ at Manatee PAL Field and kickoff is at 6pm.
