TARPON SPRINGS- In four previous meetings, the Pirates-Soldiers has grown tighter and tighter the last few matchups.

Last Saturday’s game was no different as Dunedin wasn’t able to upend West Coast despite sacking Soldiers’ quarterback Nick Martino eight times. Dunedin fell 16-13 on a last minute touchdown pass.

Pirates finish 5-5 on the season and now will move ahead to face the Space Coast Tar Heels (4-5) in the Wild Card Round of the Football Federation Alliance 2.0 playoffs. Dunedin will travel to Stradley Park in Cocoa, FL.

Eric Vitale started at quarterback and finished completing 8-of-18 passes for 96 yards and two touchdowns. Vitale also rushed for 51 yards on the night, but it wouldn’t be enough.

Dunedin was up late 13-8 with about a minute remaining and Martino hit running back Devonta Smith for the game winner. Javaughn Johnson finished with four sacks on the night.
