BRUNSWICK- Three other times have the Dunedin Pirates and Golden Isles Grizzlies have met and each game has had its own story.

The first between the two happened in 2018, in which the Grizzlies edged out the Pirates 6-3 in a nail biter. The following season, Golden Isles once again narrowly won in a 28-22 contest. Last season’s 34-12 loss was in a torrential downpour of a night.

The breakthrough finally occurred last Saturday when the Pirates got a an all around performance from its offense, defense and special teams. Dunedin rolled by Golden Isles 48-12 at Lanier Field in Brunswick, Georgia. It marked the first time the Pirates have won a game outside of Florida.

Dunedin (2-2) got a big night from quarterback/linebacker Nate Munson, who threw for 140 yards on 7-of-11 passing and had two touchdowns in the air including another on the ground. Wide receiver Michael Minges had himself a huge game, catching three passes for 143 yards and three touchdowns.

Special teams also played a big role in the contest, with running back Tahj Lewis recovering a live ball on kickoff and a fumble. The Pirates will enjoy a bye this week before traveling to Sickles High School on February 26th to face the Tampa Bay Thunder.
