Dunedin rolls by Space Coast 23-0

TITUSVILLE- The last time the Dunedin Pirates played the Space Coast was last spring at Cocoa High School and the team had trouble stopping the passing attack of the Tar Heels.

This time around, however, the Pirates had no such issues when  they faced the Tar Heels this time around. Dunedin behind 182 yards passing from quarterback Eric Vitale rolled to a 23-0 win over Space Coast at the Gibson Youth Center.

The Pirates (3-4) established the run and the pass in the opening drive, nearly driving 70 yards before a Daniel Kramer fumble at the goal line denied Dunedin of a touchdown. Dunedin got on the board late in the second quarter on a 25-yard field goal by Kahleel Forde.

The defense forced a quick three and out of the Tar Heels and a blocked punt put Dunedin in scoring position quickly. Vitale snuck it in from a yard out to put the Pirates up 9-0 going into halftime. Dunedin added two more touchdowns on a run by running back Nate Munson and a 55-yard touchdown throw from Vitale to Alex Jennings.

Pirates are back at home this week when they host the Tri County Steelers (2-6) of Lake City, FL. Kickoff is at 5pm at Childs Park.
