Dunedin upset Commandos 18-6

JACKSONVILLE- Not many people gave the Dunedin Pirates a chance when they were scheduled to face the 4-0 River City Commandos on Saturday evening at Charles ‘Boobie’ Clark Park.

The Pirates forced several turnovers and got a solid performance from quarterback Tim Dallaire en route to an 18-6 win. Dunedin improved to 2-3 on the season and will face the West Coast Soldiers on March 20th.

River City (4-1) started the game strong with a series that ended with a Tim Harris touchdown run. Dunedin answered right back with a 97-yard kickoff return touchdown by Manny Higgins, his second of the season.

A blocked punt by Javaughn Johnson setup a 7-yard touchdown pass from Dallaire to Higgins. The dagger would be Dunedin’s third touchdown, which Dallaire connected with Alex Jennings. Dallaire finished 11-of-19, 72 yards and two touchdowns.
