GAME RECAP: SOUTHWEST FLORIDA GLADIATORS 30, ANCLOTE PIRATES 2

by Andy Villamarzo

BRADENTON- It was another tough one to swallow for the Pirates when they traveled down to Lakewood Ranch Park to take on the Southwest Florida Gladiators.

Anclote went with Andy Villamarzo for his third start of the season and turnovers became the team's undoing against the Gladiators. The Pirates turned over the football seven times en route to a 30-2 blowout loss to the Gladiators Saturday night. Arseles Miller's 100-yard return on a blocked extra point attempt ended up being the only two points mustered up by Anclote all evening.

Quarterbacks for the Pirates did not have a fun evening against the Gladiators' secondary, as Villamarzo and Nate Munson combined for six interceptions. Though each signal caller ended up finding some of their receivers throughout the game, the offense was never really able to get going.

Adding injury to insult was the loss of star wide receiver Javaughn Johnson, who would suffer a shoulder injury late in the fourth quarter. Johnson hopes he can return in time to help Anclote in a potential playoff game on April 22nd, if the Pirates qualify.
