Gladiators hand Pirates 44-6 loss

BRADENTON- The last meeting between the Dunedin Pirates and Southwest Florida Gladiators ended in some late game excitement as the former trailed 9-0 midway through the final quarter of play.

The second meeting between the two clubs, however, didn’t have quite the suspense the first encounter had. The Pirates made several key miscues early in the contest and weren’t able to keep up in a 44-6 loss to the Gladiators a couple weeks ago.

Dunedin finishes the 2019 FFA season with a record of 4-6, awhile the Gladiators finish at 10-0. The Pirates begin the postseason on the road this Saturday when they travel to Jacksonville, FL to face the Jacksonville Cardinals (4-6).

The Cardinals are a familiar opponent for the Pirates, as both clubs opened up the FFA regular season against each other. Jacksonville edged Dunedin 22-12 back on January 26th.

Jacksonville features Joe Lang at quarterback and Jacoby Hunter at running back.

Dunedin finally got on the board against the Gladiators for the first time since 2017, as Nate Munson was able to punch in a rushing touchdown. Munson finished the second half at quarterback in relief of starter Eric Vitale, who was sidelined with an injury.
