Miami too much for Tarpon Springs in the end

by Jackson Shewey

MIAMI- Tarpon Springs Pirates headed into the game looking to remain undefeated, but the Miami Spartans had other ideas.

The Pirates attempted a valiant comeback but fell short in a 36-28 loss to the Spartans at Southridge Stadium on the campus of Southridge High School.

On the opening kickoff of the game, Tarpon Springs fumbled and initially fell behind 8-0. Each team went back and forth when it came to touchdowns, but at the end it would come down to one crucial possession.

Tarpon Springs Pirates’ quarterback Nate Munson looked like he scored on a touchdown run, but referees claimed the ball carrier did not cross the goal line. A play later, the Pirates would fumble and this ending any comeback attempt.Â
