Tarpon Springs roll in victory over Hernando County Hawks

HUDSON- Making its second visit to Pasco County this season, the Tarpon Springs Pirates were looking to notch their fourth victory in a row when they faced the Hernando County Hawks. 

Hearing plenty of social media chatter all week long heading into the contest, the Pirates obliged in making sure quieted the doubters. 

Tarpon Springs rode a big first half offensively en route to a 38-21 win over Hernando County at Arthur F. Engle Memorial Park. The Pirates improved to 4-1 on the season ahead of a huge tilt against the defending EAFL champion South Florida Browns coming to town. 

From the game's opening possession, Tarpon Springs (4-1) made it be known they wouldn't be slowed down on offense. Pirates' quarterback Isaiah McIntyre connected on a touchdown pass to wide receiver Cyle Kurina, who missed last week's game due to an undisclosed matter. 

Following Tarpon Springs' possession, running back Christian Phillips broke free up the right sideline for a long touchdowns run to push the team's advantage to 14-0. 

The defense got pressure on Hawks' quarterback Cody Colbath throughout the evening and in the second half tightened up and yielded just one touchdowns.

Eric Vitale played under center the entire fourth quarter as the team looked to rest starters in anticipation of the big matchup with the Browns.
