Pirates roll past Stingrays in blowout

FORT MYERS- A total team effort finally came to fruition when the Dunedin Pirates visited the Florida Stingrays at Bishop Verot High School.

On a 3-game losing streak and badly needing a win, the Pirates’ offense finally got on track behind a 224-yard passing performance from quarterback Nate Munson and rolled to a 38-14 win over division foe Stingrays.

Dunedin (3-5) badly needed a victory as the playoffs loomed large up ahead. The Pirates needed a big offensive day and they got it in on both the ground and through the air. Munson scored four total touchdowns, adding 57 yards rushing.

Running backs Mareece ‘Rampage’ Sturgis rushed for 76 yards on six carries and Javaughn ‘Juju’ Johnson rushed for 70. Wide receiver Michael Minges had a monster game, catching six passes for 63 yards and a touchdown. Dunedin ended with 437 yards of offense.
