Pirates score franchise-high 69 points in rout of Wolverines
FORT LAUDERDALE- Back in the 2019 season, the Pirates, then known as the 'Dunedin Pirates', were drubbed to a 70-0 loss to the South Florida Wolverines.
On Saturday night, Tarpon Springs repaid the favor.
The Pirates rolled a franchise-high in points as the team cruised to a season-opening 69-0 victory over the South Florida Wolverines to open the 2026 Elite American Football League (EAFL).
When looking around the dais, everyone that plays on the team offensively got in on the action as many players were able to find the endzone in the rout of the Wolverines.
Quarterback Zay McIntyre had himself another big night, throwing multiple touchdowns along with running back Christian Phillips rushing for 100 yards on just six carries and scoring two times.
The defense shutdown South Florida's offense throughout the evening, maintaining the shutout from the start to finish of the game. Now the team will shift its focus to next week's home opener against the West Coast Warriors, which dropped their home opener to the Duval Raiders.
