Pirates stymied by Soldiers in 8-0 loss

ST. PETERSBURG- 7-6, 13-6, 35-31.

Those scores are the previous three regular season matchups between the Dunedin Pirates and West Coast Soldiers. Last Saturday’s matchup wasn’t any different, but it did include some chippy play.

Offensively, the Pirates were not able to get out of their own way as the offense struggled in the redzone area and with turnovers. Dunedin fell 8-0 to West Coast on Saturday at Childs Park.

Dunedin (2-4) had a bad omen to start, as returner Manny Higgins had one of the team’s five turnovers on the day. Quarterback Tim Dallaire had a tough day throwing the ball, with three interceptions.

The bright spot was the play of the Dunedin defense, which held the Soldiers to eight points. West Coast had been averaging a league high 30 points per game. Dunedin this Saturday takes on the Space Coast Tar Heels at the Gibson Youth Center. Kickoff is at 7pm.
