Tarpon Springs breezes by West Coast to improve to 2-0

HOLIDAY- If last week's 69-0 throttling of the South Florida Wolverines was a statement, Saturday night's beatdown of the West Coast Warriors was a continuation from that.

Behind another strong offensive and defensive effort, Tarpon Springs cruised to a 64-0 win over West Coast on Saturday night at Anclote High School. The Pirates improved to 2-0 on the season and have out-scored their first two opponents by a combined 133-0.

The kind of dominance being displayed thus far by the Pirates has been unseen throughout the EAFL's five years of existence and it was the defense that really did some heavy lifting early on.

Tarpon Springs safety Marvion Harris picked off multiple passes, returning one of them for a touchdown in the blowout victory.

Leading the way once again on the ground for the Tarpon Springs' ground attack was running back Christian Phillips, who rushed for a team-high 148 yards on a mere seven touches and scoring two touchdowns.

Now the Pirates will turn its full attention to a showdown with independent West Florida Apes down in St. Petersburg.
