Tarpon Springs scores 47 in victory over Lakeland

HOLIDAY- It wasn't pretty at times, but Tarpon Springs was able to get it done and reach another feat: The Pirates are 4-0 for the first time in franchise history.

Behind a strong offensive effort, the Pirates were able to roll to a 47-24 victory over the Lakeland Jokers on Saturday night at Anclote Stadium. The 47 points were scored in the first three quarters of play before giving way to backups in the final quarter.

Despite the win, the team may be out multiple key players for an extended period of time due to unsportsmanlike conduct plays from the game, with quarterback Zay McIntyre and wide receiver Kai Washington both being investigated by the EAFL league office.

Per the team, if the team is without McIntyre in this week's EAFL showdown against the Duval Raiders, the team is planning to go to backup Tyler Hunter behind center for the contest.

When it came to the contest against the Jokers, the Pirates rushed out to a 21-0 lead before Lakeland started battling back into the game.

By halftime, Tarpon Springs was able to regain control of the game and owned a dominating 36-12 lead and never looked back.
