Tarpon Springs shuts down Jaguars in home opener

TARPON SPRINGS- If you thought there would be any letdown in the Tarpon Springs' home opener at Tarpon Springs High School against the Florida Jaguars, you have better had second thoughts on that.

Behind a timely offense and suffocating defense, the Pirates were able to record their first shutout of the season in a 42-0 rout of the Jaguars Saturday night. Tarpon Springs improved to 2-1 on the season after a losing in the EAFL Bowl Bash back in late February.

After notching a dominating performance against the Hernando County Leopards last week, it was time for the Pirates to put together a all around effort versus a Jaguars team that gave Tarpon Springs fits in 2023.

Running back Christian Phillips ran wild against the Jaguars' front seven, scoring on multiple dazzling runs. With a defense that stymied the Jaguars' all evening, the Pirates were able to dig in and never let up.

Tarpon Springs returns to action next week when they hit the road to Fort Pierce when they face the first-year Treasure Coast Seminoles at Khalil Mack Field.
